Significance of Dhanvantari Trayodashi

Lord Dhanvantari’s birthday anniversary is commemorated on the day known as 2023 Dhanvantari Trayodashi. He is the Father and Teacher of Ayurveda and the Physician of Gods. He is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

Hindu scriptures claim that on this day, Lord Dhanvantari emerged from the sea as a result of the milky ocean’s churning (Samudra Manthan). He was carrying a pitcher of elixir or amrit. According to the Hindu texts, this Vishnu avatar has four hands, one of which holds a pot of nectar, the conch shell (Shankh), herbs, and a chakra. Because of this, this day is also recognised as Dhanvantari Jayanti and as the anniversary of his birth. According to popular belief, he came on earth to shield all creatures from illness and grief while also ensuring that they lived long and healthy lives.

Ayurveda practitioners from all over India and other people pray to Lord Dhanvantari for a strong body and a long life.

Also known as Dhanteras or Dhantrayodashi, this day is celebrated. People pray for wealth and prosperity at Lakshmi Puja. On this day, it is customary to buy gold, silver, and other jewels as well as utensils to bring Goddess Lakshmi home. In order to welcome Lakshmi, the Goddess of riches, devotees clean their residences and workplaces. On this day, Kuber Puja is also done.
