Narakasura was killed by Lord Krishna and Goddess Kali, putting an end to his terrible acts. This celebration honours their triumph. During the Brahma Muhurta, it is said that Lord Krishna took an oil bath after destroying the demon. This is why taking an oil bath with all the proper procedures before daybreak is seen to be very lucky.

An auspicious day to ward off all evil and negative energies from one’s life is Narak Chaturdashi. It is a day of fresh starts when we put an end to our sloth and lay the groundwork for a successful future.

• To receive the most blessings, worshippers should take an oil bath before sunrise.
• In Northern India, this day is observed as Choti Diwali, and in Southern India, it is known as Tamil Deepavali.
• This day is known as Abhyang Snan among Hindus in Maharashtra.
• Men, women, and children all dress in new outfits, make their homes beautiful, and eat great foods with their loved ones.
• In order to invite riches, prosperity, and happiness into their homes, women decorate their entire house with lovely earthen lamps.
• Another significant component of this occasion is the use of fireworks and crackers.

Narak Chaturdashi Pooja Vidhi

One of the well-known holidays that is observed on the second day of Diwali is Narak Chaturdashi. The following is the Narak Chaturdashi Pooja procedure:-

• Place a crimson cloth over the location of the Pooja and a wooden chowki.
• Place the image of God Laxmi and Lord Ganesh on the Chowki.
• Take a dish, cover it with a red cloth, and then scatter some silver coins over it.
• Now, take a big plate, form swastika in the centre, set 11 diyas around and position a Diya with 4 faces in the middle of the dish.
• Now add sugar to the 11 diyas; alternatively, you may also add makhana, kheel, or murmura.
• The next crucial step is to ignite the four-faced candle first, followed by the other 11 candles.
• Now take a roli and apply a red-colored rice tilak to the images of Lord Ganesha, Goddess Laxmi, and Saraswati.
• Now add a combination of roli and rice in all diyas and then do Ganesh Laxmi Panchopchar Puja.
• The next step is to light a different diya and place it in front of the image of Goddess Laxmi.
• In front of the image of the Goddess Laxmi, light an agarbatti and dhoop and place flowers and treats.
• Now take the remaining dias and place them on the front door of the house, excluding the 7 dias and one main 4-faced dia.
• Thank Lord Ganesh and Goddess Laxmi for their blessings by reciting the Laxmi Mantra “Shreem Swaha” a minimum of 108 times.
