A festival called Roop Chaudas is connected to Diwali. One day before Diwali, Roop Chaudas is observed. It is thought to be a Soundarya Siddhi Diwas, which means a girl or woman can practise Sadhana on this day to enhance their attractiveness and charm.

The purpose of Roop Chaturdashi, sometimes referred to as Narak Chaturdashi, is to prepare and beautify oneself for the joyous event of Diwali. To improve one’s own beauty, one does the Roop Chaudas Puja.

  • It is also said that Lord Krishna slew the powerful demon Mahishasura, releasing the populace from his cruelty and brutality. On this day, the lovers also worship Yamraj and Chitragupt on a grand scale.
  • People get up early on this day and take baths using high-quality, traditional items and fragrant oils. Women use a product called ubtan, which is comprised of special gramme flour blended with herbs, to clean up and enhance their appearance.
  • The devotees don fresh garments and do specific pujas after taking the chaturdashi bath.
  • The beginning of this day signifies the destruction of the evil and the coming of the new brilliance. On this day, worshippers erect Diyas (Earthen Lamps).
  • Special Pujas are conducted and created to win Lord Yama’s blessings.
  • By performing these pujas, it is thought that Lord Yama will guard against their torment in hell and halt their descent there. On this day, diyas are placed on the front doors of the house and are specially lit.
  • Among the five days of celebration in Rajasthan, Roop Chaudas is one of the most significant. With great zest and excitement, this festival is observed.
  • In Rajasthan, Roop Chaudas is observed as Kali Chaudas. In celebration of Kali Chaturdashi, unique and distinctive sweets are made at home along with other foods and refreshments.

Roop Chaudas Importance

One day before Diwali, the festival of Roop Chaturdashi is observed. In the Hindu Lunar Calendar, “Roop” denotes “beauty,” and “Chaturdashi” denotes “the fourteenth day of the Kartik month.”

In various parts of the nation, Roop Chaudas is also referred as as Kali Chaturdashi and Narak Chaturdashi. On this day, the devotees worship the goddess Kali. This day is linked to numerous myths and tales. On this day, it is said that Goddess Kali slew the most formidable demon, Raktabija.
