Born on May 23, 1958, Drew Allison Carey is a versatile American entertainer. After serving in the United States Marine Corps, Carey discovered his true vocation in stand-up comedy, which propelled him to fame. He garnered widespread recognition through his own sitcom, “The Drew Carey Show,” and as the charismatic host of the U.S. version of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” on ABC.

Carey’s abilities extend far beyond the sphere of television, as he has also dabbled in film, music videos, television series, and even gaming. His enduring legacy, however, rests in his role as the cherished host of “The Price Is Right” since 2007, where his warm and welcoming demeanor has won over audiences for decades.

Why was He in the News Lately?

In 2023, Drew Carey’s journey to lose weight has evolved into an inspiring tale of perseverance and transformation. Prior to the dissolution of his marriage, Drew fought a seemingly insurmountable battle with weight gain. Despite attempting numerous diets and rigorous exercise regimens, he struggled to lose the weight he had gained over the years.

Drew Carey made the significant decision to undertake cosmetic surgery in the fall of 2022 in order to confront his weight issues head-on. This courageous action garnered significant media attention, with publications such as People reporting on his progress. Drew lost an impressive ten pounds during a chance encounter with a photographer in New York, signaling a turning point in his journey.

How Did Drew Carey Lose Weight?

According to Parade magazine, Carey aimed to lose close to 90 pounds by November, bringing her weight from a peak of 262 pounds at the beginning of the year to approximately 170. By August of last year, he had decreased his waist measurement from 44 to 34.

According to him, a one-year commitment to diet and exercise did the trick. Bread and pasta were eliminated from his diet, and he drank copious amounts of water instead of soda. When he was compelled to eat a burger, a “Price Is Right” hostess’s advice prevented him from doing so.

Drew Carey‘s Exercise Routine

Drew’s path to success included experimenting with a variety of exercise regimens, including water aerobics, jogging, cycling, and yoga, but these efforts yielded little success. In the end, he decided to undergo gastric band surgery, a decision that was documented in photographs of Drew Carey during his weight loss voyage.

This time, he has been able to keep the weight off by losing it more progressively and combining diet and exercise with the assistance of a trainer.

“Working out was crucial,” he asserts. “You can’t just diet.” Now, he exercises six days per week and engages in a great deal of walking and jogging.

“I used to work out before when I was in the Marines,” says Carey, who has always been honored to call Cleveland his hometown. Two or three times per week, he performs 45 minutes of “hard cardio.” In August, he ran a 10K for the first time in nearly 25 years.
