Devotees follow a stringent fast on Ekadashi and only break their fast after daybreak the next day. Fasting without water, with only water, or with only fruits is an option for certain devotees. Ekadashi falls on the eleventh lunar day of each of the two lunar phases – Shukla Paksa and Krishna Paksa – according to the Hindu calendar. In a year, there are 24 Ekadashi fasts, and keeping them offers enormous virtue and happiness.

Meaning Of Ekadashi Vrat

Parana means to break the fast, hence it must be done inside the Dwadashi Tithi unless Dwadashi is over before sunrise. It is considered a sin if you do not do Parana during this tithi. The Ekadashi fast is all about spiritual cleansing, and this day is devoted to Lord Vishnu, who is thought to be the realm’s protector lord.

Fasting is done for two days in a row, with the exception that Smartha and his family are only required to fast on the first day. The alternate Ekadashi fasting, which is recommended for Sanyasis, widows, and those seeking Moksha, is the second option. When Smartha’s alternate Ekadashi fasting is advised, it falls on Vaishnava Ekadashi fasting day. The Legend of Ekadashi Vratham Ekadashi is said to be a Goddess created by Lord Vishnu who destroyed the Tail Demon Mura and brought peace to the world. As a result, Lord Vishny was delighted with her and bestowed upon her the gift that whoever observes the Ekadashi fast will be able to purge oneself of all mental sins and impurities, and will undoubtedly attain redemption.

Significance Of Ekadashi

After performing aarti to God, fast devotees read the story of Ekadashi, and prasad is distributed. Fasting is followed on Ekadashi day, and then Jagran is performed at night by chanting Lord Narayana bhajans. Break the fast in the Paran Muhurta the next day and distribute food to the poor according to capacity. In general, there are numerous Ekadashi in a year, and they are very important to Lord Vishnu followers. People chant Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Rama Rama Rama Rama Rama Rama Rama Rama Rama.
