Navratri is the most anticipated Hindu festival, which is celebrated for nine days with great dedication and reverence. There are four Navratris in a year, the most important of which are Shardiya Navratri and Chaitra Navratri. Both of these Navratri festivities share a number of rites and traditions. Navratri Ghatasthapana is one such ritual. Shardiya Ghatasthapana is the installation of the Ghata or Kalash, as the name suggests. This ritual kicks off the nine-day celebration.

Navratri Ghatasthapana Importance
Ghatasthapana is an important ceremony in Navratri celebrations because the Ghata or Kalash, or sacred pot, is the main object of worship during Navratri. Goddess Shakti is evoked in this pot for nine days, and the pot is then worshipped daily till the ninth day. Our holy books and manuscripts have given down particular norms and procedures for Ghatasthapana Vidhi, and any changes or performing it at the wrong time can bring Maa Durga’s wrath. As a result, it is critical that Ghatasthapana puja be performed at the proper time.
The most auspicious Navratri Ghatasthapana Muhurat is when Pratipada tithi is present, or the first one-third of the day. If this period is unavailable or impractical, Abhijit Muhurat is another auspicious time to do Ghatasthapana. Vaidhriti Yoga and Nakshatra Chitra periods should be avoided by devotees, although they are not forbidden. It is forbidden to practise Ghatasthapana during Amavasya or at night.
