Significance of Guru Purnima
According to legend, Maharshi Veda Vyasa was born on the Ashadha Purnima, and was the author of great works such as the Brahma Sutra, Mahabharata, Shrimad Bhagvat, and 18 Puranas.
Rishi Parashara’s son was Ved Vyas. Veda Vyas was acquainted of all the Kaals, according to Hindu Shastras (times – past, present, future). He had seen with his divine eye that people will lose interest in religion in the future. As a result, humanity will have less faith in God, will shun obligations, and will live shorter lives. Such a person will find it difficult to read the entire Veda. As a result, Maharshi Vyasa split the Vedas into four sections so that persons with little understanding and memory could benefit from them.
He named the Vedas Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, and Atharvaveda after dividing them into four parts. As a result, he was given the name Veda Vyasa. Vaishampayana, Sumantumuni, Pail, and Jaimin were among his students who received the knowledge of the four Vedas.
He constructed Puranas as the fifth Veda since this information was enigmatic and difficult. He described Vedic wisdom as fascinating stories in these Puranas.
