The most well-known religious celebration in Southern India, particularly in the majority of Tamil Nadu, is the Kedara Gauri Vrat. This Hindu holiday falls on Diwali’s or Laxmi Puja’s main day. It is carefully kept by the devoted followers of Lord Shiva and is open to everyone, regardless of gender or caste.

The major day of Deepawali, Amavasya, marks the culmination of the 21-day fast, which begins on Ashtami, the eighth day of Shukla Paksha in the Tamil month of Purattasi. Nowadays, followers normally observe this fast on just one day—the final day of Amavasya.

Significance of Kedar Gauri Vrat

Kedara Gauri Vrat, sometimes referred to as Kedareshwar Vrat, is regarded as a crucial religious observance for achieving all of your goals and aspirations. Many Gods and Goddesses are thought to have conducted this quickly in order to get the desired outcomes.

Most people believe that Goddess Parvati performed this vrat. A Shiva devotee who did not include Parvati in his prayers had faith in Lord Shiva. This enraged the Goddess, who then pleaded to Rishi Gautama for guidance on how to become a vital component of Shiva’s body. Rishi Gautama suggested that she follow a strict Kedar Vrat for 21 days while giving her all of her love.

This pleased Lord Shiva, who then gave his left arm to Goddess Parvati, whose shape later became known as “Ardhanareeswara.” As Goddess Gauri herself kept the fast to appease Lord Shiva, this day has since been commemorated as Kedar Gowri Vrat.

Other noteworthy tales claim that when Lord Vishnu completed this vrat, he rose to the position of monarch of Vaikunta. Brahma was able to gain the Hamsa chariot by this Vrat. Additionally, after following this fast, Punyavathi and Bhagyavati amassed enormous fortune. Therefore, it is thought that individuals who observe this fast with sincere devotion are granted a long life, good health, wealth, and prosperity.
