Ritual of Radha Kund Snan

When done on Ahoi Ashtami, the Radha Kund Snan ritual is fortunate and advantageous. The onlookers present the holy Radha Kund with pumpkins, garlands, and food offerings. The devotees bathe or take a dip in the Kund at midnight, followed by a bath in the Shyama Kund.

Story of Radha Kund Snan

After Lord Krishna vanquished Aristasura, a demon who appeared as a bull, Radha Kund was born. As a member of the cow family, the bull is considered to be a religious emblem in Hinduism. As a result, in the eyes of Radharani and the Gopis, Lord Krishna’s slaying of the bull was a sin against religion. Krishna was instructed by Radha ji to cleanse himself by bathing in all the holy rivers. So, in order to please Radharani, Lord Krishna collected water from all the holy sites and brought it to one location.

When Krishna landed on the ground with his lotus feet, the waters from all the holy and revered rivers gathered there, and ever since, the location has been known as Shyama Kunda. As soon as Radharani realised this, she used her bangles to dig a new Kund next to the Shyama Kunda. All the holy bodies of water asked Radha ji to grant them access to the Kund she had made. Radha Kund was so made in this manner. Eight kunjas in total, named after the eight main Sakhis of Radha Rani, are located on the banks of Radha Kunda.
