3 Most Popular Legends About Lord Kuber

There are many mythological stories about Lord Kuber. However, there are 3 stories that most astrologers believe in. Have a look!

Kuber and Lord Shiva’s Legend

It is believed that Kuber was a true believer of Lord Shiva. Pleased by his devotion, Lord Shiva made him the guardian of all the wealth and Gold on Earth. As time passed by, Kuber turned greedy. He started using the wealth for selfish motives instead of guarding it. It offended Lord Shiva who sent his Son, Lord Ganesha to teach Kuber a lesson.

Lord Ganesha reached the House of Kuber and asked for food in the feast that Kuber had organized for all Gods. Despite cooking everything he had at home, Kuber could not satisfy the Hunger of Ganesha. When there was nothing left to eat, Lord Ganesha tried to eat Kuber. At that time Kuber begged Lord Shiva for help. Lord Shiva showed up and taught him the lesson of never misusing the powers one has.

It is believed that ever since Lord Shiva opened the eyes of Lord Kuber, he has been guarding the wealth and gold on Earth.

Lord Kuber and Ravans’s Legend

According to popular Hindu Legends, Kubera was the step-brother of Ravana and the rightful king of Lanka. He had built the entire city with gold. Ravana pleased Lord Brahma and with his blessings, Ravana became so powerful that he threw King Kuber out of Lanka.

Ousted out of his own city, Kubera left behind all that he had and settled close to Kailash. He started worshipping Lord Shiva and became his true follower. Shiva, pleased by Kuber (despite Kuber being a Rakshas), made him guardian of all the Gold on the entire Earth, not just in Lanka.
