Mantra

Mantras are the Holy hymns that Hindus chant and believe in. According to Vedic astrology, a mantra can remove/reduce the malice of planets, bless the natives with long life and good health, and appease gods.

Significance of Mantras

Aum (Om) is the first-ever mantra that has been recorded in Vedic Sanskrit. Expert astrologers believe that the OM mantra is a minimum of 3500-year-old.

A mantra can be a single word or many words combined into a sentence. It is believed that each holy word radiates positive energies that have cosmic relevance and connects human beings with God. According to both ancient astrology and modern astrology, all mantras have religious, spiritual, and healing benefits. In fact, mantras are held sacred in Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism too.

Most Important Hindu Mantras in Astrology

There are 4 Hindu Vedas. Out of those, there are a total of 10552 mantras in Rigveda alone. Whilst every mantra has a significance of its own, there are a few that are considered to be the most powerful by Hindus. The Pranava Mantra (Om) is the first most important Hindu mantra that is known to be the ultimate meaning of the entire universe. It is mostly the first word that every other mantra starts from. Gayatri Mantra (Om Bhūr Bhuvaḥ Svaḥtat, Savitur Vareṇyaṃ, Bhargo Devasya Dhīmahi, Dhiyo Yo Naḥ Pracodayāt) is another mantra that Hindus regularly chant. This mantra, according to Vedic interpretations, is known to be a prayer to Surya Dev (the planet Sun). Some astrologers, however, believe that the Gayatri mantra is chanted for pleasing Lord Shiva). Rudra Mantra (Om Namo Bhagwate Rudraay) is chanted to please the angry form of Shiva). The next very powerful Shiva mantra is the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra (Om Tryambakam Yajamahe, Sugandhim Pushti Vardhanam, Urvarukamiva Bandhanan, Mrityor Mukshiya Maamritat). This mantra is known to be a death-defying mantra. The Siddhivinayak Mantra (Om Gan Ganpataye Namo Namah, Shri Sidhivinayak Namo Namah, Ashtakvinayak Namo Namah, Ganpati Bappa Morya) is sung in the praise of Lord Ganesha. Another very important Hindu mantra is the Vakratunda Ganesh Mantra (Vakratunda Maha-Kaaya, Surya-Kotti Samaprabha, Nirvighnam KuruMe Deva, Sarva-Karyeshu Sarvada). No auspicious event is started without this mantra. It is believed to be an invitation to God Ganesha to help carry out the event successfully.

Sri Hari Vishnu Mantra (Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya) is sung in the praise of Lord Vishnu. The Adi Mantra (Om Namo Guru Dev Namo) is a sacred mantra recited in the devotion of a Guru (teacher). In Hinduism, a Guru is given one place higher than even Gods. The Saraswati Beej Mantra (Om Eim Saraswati Namaha Om) is another very important mantra since Saraswati is the Hindu goddess of Knowledge. She’s also the daughter of Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe. The Shanti Mantra (Om Shanti Shanti Shanti) is a very relevant Hindu mantra that Brahmans recite at the end of every Puja/Havana). There are also Graha Shanti Mantras to please all the 9 planets (The Shani mantra, the Rahu mantra, The Ketu mantra, the Venus mantra, the Sun beej mantra, the Brihaspati mantra, the mercury beej mantra, the Mars beej mantra, and the Chandra beej mantra). Last, there are 3 Lakshmi-Kuber mantras (1st: Om Shree Mahalakshmyai Cha Vidmahe, Vishnu Patnyai Cha Dheemahi Tanno, Lakshmi Prachodayat Om, 2nd: Om Shrim Hrim Kleem Eng Saung, Om Hrim ka ee ii La Hrim Ha Sa Ka La Hrim, Sakal Hrim Saung Eng Klim Hrim Sri Om, and 3rd: In shrim krim om Kuber Lakshmi Kamala, Devnayae Dhan krishnaya Swaha) that are recited for wealth and money.

The Benefits of Chanting Mantras

Hindus, usually, recite mantras 108 times or 1008 times to seek the blessings of gods and goddesses.

Mantras are considered to be very powerful and their benefits are endless. It is believed that chanting mantras to please planets can reduce Kaal Sarp dosha and remove pitra dosha. It is also believed that mantras have healing powers that cancure mental problems like depression and remove negativity. The next benefit that astrologers believe in is offering the natives protection from accidents and evil eyes. Specific mantras also have the power to heal the sick and dying. It is also believed that people who chant mantras to offer prayers to goddess Lakshmi are blessed with money, success, and prosperity. Some mantras also help the devotees to achieve moksha (nirvana).
